Friday Five

1. I decided not to attend the Golden Globes ceremony and to watch from home this year. I mean, first there's all the hassle that goes into One Night - the dress, the hair, the makeup, the schmaltzing*.

*Sample Schmaltz
Brad: Sarah! Long time no see. Now, please tell me Angie and I are your best-dressed couple.
Sarah: You and Angie are my best-dressed couple.
Angie: Is she just saying that? *gasps* She's totally just saying that!
Brad: You disappoint me, S.
Sarah: Shoulder pads??! Clip-on bowtie??!
Brad: I know. AND WE STILL LOOK HOT.
Sarah: You have exceptionally good genes.

And then of course, there was the impossible task of choosing whether to accompany intern OrRyanGosling or close, personal friend Johnny (Freaking) Depp. I figured the only way to keep the peace was to not choose, although you can bet I was screaming and hurling air kisses at the TV screen when both their categories were up. They were both (understandably) bummed about not going home with any hardware, but seriously how good did they look?

2. Speaking of looking good at the Golden Globes...

*Sample Schmaltz Part 2
Angie: You like her shoulder stuffing but you don't like mine?
Sarah: ....
Angie: I can't decide whether you're [being] mean-spirited, with mildly sinister undertones channeling Ricky Gervais right now, or whether you're Team Aniston.
Sarah:....

3. In other TV news, I suspect I am the only one TiVoing and staying up at ungodly hours to watch the Australian Open. Anyone? No? Oh, and then American Idol is back! I'm not hating it so far, but I've decided to withhold judgment until at least the first live show.

4. As you might be able to tell from the fact that all my last points were of the nonsensical/TV variety, I have spent the past week editing my eyes out and not having much of a life. But! There have been words, there have been Twizzlers, there have been Tim Tams, and there have been interludes filled with good TV. To summ: I am content.

5. On a serious note, there's this post that the courageous and talented Shannon Messenger wrote last week on a difficult, but so-important subject. If you haven't yet, please read it.

Was your week more eventful than mine? Did you catch the Globes/Australian Open/American Idol?

Happy Friday, everyone! :)

No, my week was no more eventful than yours :)

I decided not to go to the Globes either. Honestly, who has the time these days?
There was also the little matter of the lack of invitation.

Whoa. You've actually been to the Golden Globes? That must be pretty cool.

What the hell is a Tim Tam? I'm glad you are able to cover all these important shows for those of us who fall asleep on the couch each night, a empty chocolate shake glass balanced precariously in hand. It's people like you, Sarah With A Chance. Thank God.

    Have a great weekend, love!

Team Aniston. *snarf* You always make me laugh. So good to see you here--who needs the Globes?

I followed the link to Shannon's post and had to take a moment to collect myself before returning. That is so powerful and painful to read.

Yay for Sarah blogging. Yay for editing. (Side note: we MUST discuss new Idol. MUST!)

And thank you for linking my post. *sniffles* *hugs*

Tabitha, I hear you. Who has the time? ;)

    Matthew, I wish! :)

LMJ: Oh, my heart is sad. You don't know Tim Tams? The situation must be rectified ASAP.

Tricia: So glad you checked it out! And it's good to see you too! :)

Shannon: YES. We must discuss Idol!

Colene: I think I'll have to do a post on Tim Tams...although I suspect Tabitha probably has way more expertise than I do, being Australian.

Schmaltzing is so much work these days. :) I only caught a few bits and pieces of the globes where awkwardness ensued between Ricky Gervais and *insert name of every celebrity he introduced here*. Which was weird to me because I am normally a huge Ricky Gervais fan.

American Idol on the other hand I have been watching religiously. Love it.

Anne Hathaway looks good in everything.

Also, every time I see Ryan Gosling on TV now, I think of you. I feel like that's kind of weird, lol.

I'll admit: I'm a fan of the new Idol panel. I truly have met Steven Tyler irl. Not because I'm so awesome, just because he came to see a movie at the theater where I worked.

And, I tell this story all the time, which makes me even less awesome -- but, I thought he was Bon Jovi.

I thought about going, but you're right, who needs the hassle. :)
