Friday Five: (Random) Things I Heart

Posted on | Friday, March 4, 2011 | 9 Comments

1. Not to make things any more polarizing than they usually are on this blog, but... This Dress

I know a lot of people (*cough* The Sister Who Always Talks Me Down) thought it was blah and the hair was blah and the color was blah, but to that, I say, "BLAH." I love it!  I love the high ponytail. I love the simplicity of her look. I love that Reese seems comfortable in it. Above all, I LOVE THAT THE OSCARS HAPPENED AND SHE WAS THERE. (Also, that I won our annual Oscar pool for the second year running, but that is neither here nor there.)

2. OrRyanGosling. I'll admit that I am still blue that my valentine did not see gold. Which is to say, that I was absolutely destroyed when OrRyanGosling didn't get nominated for Blue Valentine. And friends, not all days have been good. Some days I've been forced to omit the letter "O" from my vocabulary entirely - not because I have anything against Oprah and her magazine, but because around here we refer to the Oscars as the "O's"and the reminder was simply too much. I knw yu understand.

Um, so where was I? Right. What I'm trying to say is that, distraught as I've been over the OrRyanGosling snub, this interview has been helping a little. 3:39 and beyond is as good as winning an Oscar:

Actually, the whole interview (there are 4 parts) is fantastic and highly revelatory: OrRyanGosling eye-dances! He takes ballet lessons! Omg. I know, right? He sings! He's kind of hilarious! He looks great in a suit! Wait, I feel like we already knew half of this.

3.

See number 2. I mean, he eye-dances.

4. 127 Hours, which I finally saw this week. I'm not sure it totally fits on this list, as I didn't love it in the cheerful, warm-fuzzies way I heart all the other things on this list (namely OrRyanGosling*). *Not that our love is not deep and meaningful and wide enough to span the length of two three oceans. Instead, I love that this is one of those movies you see and are still thinking about days later, a movie that quietly communicates so much about life. In fact, I think I might have to blog about this one next week, as it's making me do all sorts of pondering. Oh, and I think you'll be relieved to hear that James Franco seems way more, um, how-do-I-put-this in his element in this movie than he did hosting the Oscars.

5. An assortment of things: because, yeah, I STILL heart the fact that THE LIAR SOCIETY is out. I heart the fact that Johnny (Freaking) Depp shaved! And it made THE NEWS. I love that Mr "Mark" Darcy Colin Firth was crowned King! I heart that it is Friday. And I heart you for reading this. Thank you!

What did you think of the Oscars? What are you loving this week?

Happy Friday, everyone! :)

Oh man. I'm not sure I can watch 127 days. I mean I know the story, and it's certainly inspiring, but I'm not sure I can handle THAT ONE PART.

I was just happy Darcy won. That was enough for me.

I agree on the dress! As soon as I saw it I was smitten! I also love that Colin Firth won, as he should have, but I have to admit that the movie kinda got on my nerves. What a jerk, I know.

    Have a wonderful weekend, love!

Okay, I'm so shallow: Johnny Depp clean-shaven! Gray fedora and lavender shades! le sigh.
And Colin Firth? All is right with the world.

    Liza: It's lovely, right?

Matthew: I almost didn't go for that exact reason, but strangely (imo) That One Part wasn't necessarily the worst part of the movie.

Katie: Wasn't his speech fabulous? I <3 him.

LMJ: Heh, the movie kind of got on my nerves too (although I haven't exactly *seen* it). I was so rooting for The Social Network.

Tricia: Shallow? I like to think of it as appreciative of the finer things in life. ;)

Must agree about the dress. So many try too hard and go WAAAAYYYYY over the top to the point of looking like rodeo clowns. This was simple at its finest.

    I love simple dresses.

I LOVE COLIN FIRTH. And Johnny Depp. So much attractiveness in one post, yay for you!

I love how entertaining Charlie Sheen's apparent insanity is. Is this wrong? Oh well, I'm over it.

Reese was probably my fave of the night. When I say that, it's never just about the dress. It just means the person I most enjoyed watching, and it was her. Loved the ponytail.
